Observation's of fans

Posted on: March 1, 2008 1:29 pm

Have you noticed that it seems the more success a team has, the sports IQ of there fan base goes down.  For whatever reason, championships seem to cloud judgements.  Yes, my favorite teams (and my beloved Minnesota teams) are not what you would call perenial title contenders, but I would like to think if they were that my sport IQ would not go down.  Exampe:

On a recent thread some Cowboys fan said that since I am an Eagles/Cubs fan, I have no right to say anything and too shut my mouth since the teams I cheer for haven't won anything in 100 years.  Well, the Eagles did win the championship in 1960, but I wouldn't expect a Cowboys fan to know that.  I hate the Cowboys, Yankees, Braves etc.  but if they make a good move or do something good, I give them props.  To be a truly intelligent sports fan and have a high sports IQ, that is the way it needs too be.  There are so many idiots out there that think just because they like a team that was good when they started liking them that they know everything and those of us TRUE fans that root for out teams through thick and thin need to sit on the sidelines and wait.  Morons.  Talk to me when you have a clue.
